Ala’a was born in Amman 1980 where she graduated from University of Jordan with a bachelor of arts in sociology. Ala’a took painting and drawing courses in Al-Orfaly art centre, and Accademia D’Arte in Florence, Italy. She was also an apprentice under a Jordanian artist and a sculptor.
She is currently living in Saudi Arabia for where she is inspired by the simplicity and natural richness of the desert, and is influenced by Saudi culture and inherited customs, which she refers to as the “Genuine Arabian Heritage” that has kept pace with modernity without compromising genuine east inherit (essence).
Ala’a’s drawings consist of clear and explicit messages about the lifestyle, traditions, and customs of Saudi Arabia in terms of environment and culture, and so her authentic drawings reflect a simple modern technique (black pen) which in one way or another signifies the simplicity of nomadic life maintaining Arab originality. In an environment ever threatened by technology and globalization, an Arab artist, in Ala’a’s opinion, must reflect in his or her paintings the preservation of the Arab Identity.
